Hi. I'm terrified.

I've been trying to make my own space on the web for years. And I've been stuck. Badly.

But today is my birthday. And I refuse to let another year pass without putting something—anything—out there.

So here it is in all its messy glory. My first post on my barely-there #website: fromemily.com/hi-im-terrified/

It's not great. But it's okay...enough.

And I hope it means something to someone.

I don't understand footnotes in blogs

in books, you have the primary text and the footnote on the same page and it's relatively easy to change focus between them

in blogs, for the most part you simply do not get to see the footnote and the primary text within a single screen

also the tech for expanding text inline exists (or one could finally utilize the abundance of space on the left/right on widescreen monitors)

what's going on? why are they still in use?
