On 14 February we celebrated the 'I Love Free Software Day 2025' 
This year we marked this special day with:
19 events in 11 different European countries hundreds of people and many organisations that joined us in the Fediverse with a special "Thank you!" note for Free Software projects and contributors.

It looks like we had a pretty even split of answers for when #ilovefs day was first started! We wish it had started as early the '90s, but the very first I Love Free Software Day was celebrated in 2012.

Ada & Zangemann by @fsfe now available as a movie under a free licence (CC-BY SA). After local libraries have not added it to heir collection at the opposite end of this planet, this is good!

Most of my code I have published so far has been #Luanti mods and #games, and trust me, that was a lot of work!
And yet, I’m standing on the shoulders of giants; my work would not be possible without #Luanti. And #Luanti stands on even bigger giants.
I am happy to be part of a growing free software community, and it must continue to grow. I am thankful for everyone fighting the good fight.
Free software must become the norm and replace proprietary software entirely.

Without #FreeSoftware, the #IT world would be a much darker place. I use and/or develop free software pretty much every day.
Free software is a beautiful thing because you can just use and tinker with it. You can share, learn from others. You may join cool projects or pick someone's project and work on it alone.
Some free softwares are good and useful, and some other free softwares are trash, but it's always free.
#Freedom is valuable in its own right.
I like the spontaneous nature of the #ILoveFS meetups. Besides the great people of @HSN we got joined by @Scott_Trakker and @paolo from Luxembourg. We sent chat messages and post cards to the great people making #FreeSoftware possible!
