#PennedPossibilities 643 — How does your SC respond to the quiet? Do they take comfort in silence, or seek to fill the void with noise?

Junk can't handle silence. It drives him insane. He's always listening to music, singing, or speaking—even if it's only to himself. There's no such thing as "peace and quiet" while he's around.

#PennedPossibilities 642: How old characters?

The older I get, the more my characters age up. The WIP is 18-year-olds but that's by plot necessity and how I've been writing the story for over twenty years.

Most of the time, characters are about 10 years younger than me.

"Epsilon" varies the most. Station personnel are in their 30s, though Rose was 18, Mason was a time lord of unknown age, and Beam a lesbian hologram who appears 20 but whose memories are for less time than that.

#PennedPossibilities 641: Recharge when the muse is depleted?

Depletion doesn't happen. Life is too busy, I rarely have time to use the muse as a hobby tool.

That said, sometimes I hit a wall in terms of where to go next. One of three things can happen:
-Reread the story from an earlier point, and see the path forward.
-Shunt back to another project (possibly even one decades old) to let my subconscious deal with it.
-Turn to my overloaded reading list, and thus get one of those two results.

#PennedPossibilities 642 — How old are some of your characters?

FYI: I should say that people in this universe can live a long time due to enhanced genetics or cybernetics. Cyberpunk universes (and SFF ones as well) are all rather interesting.

Also, this is random but I've got notes that I can pull from for random characters featured throughout the first novel and series.

Someone is trying to kill a lesbian with time powers, possibly because she can't decide which woman she really wants to date.

A university student can't exist at the same time as her sister, because one of them will have been saved in the past, but now won't be when the protagonist dies, except the assassin didn't know about that, and so the lesbians save the day even though it's the guy next door who solves the history mystery.

#PennedPossibilities 0.044 — What is the most altruistic thing your MC has ever done?

Alexios is an interesting case. The argument could be made that the single most altruistic thing he's ever done is form his gang. He brought together the misfits, saving every single one of them. It was the most selfless choice he ever made. He suffers for everyone. He's unselfish and only concerned for the welfare of others, wanting to keep everyone safe, healthy, and whole. They're his family and he would do anything for them.

#PennedPossibilities 641 — How do you relax and recharge when the muse is depleted?

(I'm back, guys! I'm still amongst the living lol. I somehow found the energy to post a new prompt tonight. I should be around more tomorrow.)

I read, focus on games, watch films or shows, listen to audiobooks and podcasts, etc. I'm easy that way. It recharges my energy, gives me clarity, and sometimes gives me random bits of inspiration along the way.

If I need to take a step away from writing, I do just that. The ideas will eventually come to me. And believe me, I /do/ take breaks whenever I need them.

#PennedPossibilities 0.044 (did I miss 0.002 through 0.42?), most altruistic thing MC has done?

There was rewriting time to save a friend's life, but that was in part because she couldn't deal. There was giving up being head cheerleader to another friend, but that was in part to avoid issues after coming out as lesbian.

So, oddly enough, I suppose it was trying to trade her life for that of someone else. Even though that was something that didn't work out for her.

#PennedPossibilities 640: Good habits you have?

CARRIE: I try to eat healthy and brush my teeth regularly? I enjoy running and am trying out yoga? I try to avoid injuring innocent people when I'm dealing with this temporal assassin? Like, I'm not quite sure what you're looking for here. Mostly you've got me thinking about other habits I SHOULD have, like talking more to my girlfriend and getting my homework done. But that's a me issue.
