Thoughts (rants?) on a weekend spent online fabric shopping -

I get emails from over 75 fabric stores. 99% of them ordered the new Tula Pink Graywork line

Some places are already charging $20/yd

This has been bothering me for a while, but it's gotten really bad lately - fabric search is near impossible to use any more. Early internet searches got me to the fabric I wanted. Now search shows everything even remotely related

UPDATE: Finally, something worth reporting.

My multi-quilt project, which I have mentioned here before, is at the stage where all 14 mini-quilts are quilted, and each one has a hanging sleeve fully attached.

Next stage: labels. The person who commissioned the quilts wants each quilt to get a different label, based on the recipient (not just their name). I'm waiting on the content for the labels.

I pulled it off! Surprised my husband with this quilt for his birthday. Took me a year of being sneaky. He’s nosy. 😆 The flying goose block is perfect as he loves to watch the Canada geese migrate. Our dog loves it and has decided it’s his. Stretches out on it on our bed every chance he gets. 🙄 #quilting #quilts #fiberarts

I heard that rather than another mass event on April 19th, organizers are recommending a day of service and community

I want to do something that emphasizes #quilting, #sewing or #craftivism that I can do in my neighborhood

I was thinking of having a little table in my driveway where people could put together sewing kits?

Maybe it's a group project where people passing by pick out a piece of fabric and I sew it into a larger block/quilt top?

Other ideas welcome!

I went to AQC this week, yesterday and today. Just loving being in Melbourne, by the way. Staying in a fantastic little hotel apartment. I might never want to go home.

I was a bit disappointed with the quilts. They were beautiful, no argument, but so many different types of appliqué which really seems to be the in thing. Certainly nothing like I do. Very little traditional patchwork either, lots of picture quilts. I didn't really see anything that made me want to come home and try that. #quilting #AQC #australasianquiltconvention
