Another Brexit 'bonus':

The EU is launching a €150bn arms procurement fund, Security Action for Europe (SAFE), but non-EU countries will need to pay to participate.

Ukraine, EFTA & EEA countries (inc.Norway & Switzerland) who already pay to be part of the EU single market will gain free access; other non-EU countries will have to negotiate a participation fee before they can bid on SAFE defence tenders.

So the UK will need to pay if its defence sector is to bid.

Keir Starmer's latest attempt to get special treatment from the EU (because, the UK is special, right) was to propose a mutual recognition agreement on certifying product standards which would help exporting businesses by cutting red tape.... however, he was rebuffed & its not hard to see why.

As an EU diplomat told the FT:

'It’s not going to happen. Switzerland has this, but they pay into the EU budget & accept free movement'!
