Ce billet de blog n’exiterait pas sans celui de ma camarade Codimp Translate Me Pré-requis Outre une jail en état de fonctionner avec les outils de base (vim, sudo, zsh), Il nous faut : un serveur DNS en état de marche et accessible ; un nom de domaine example.com ; de plusieurs sous-domaine : conference.example.com : pour les discussions de groupe ; proxy.xmpp.example.com : le proxy sock5 ; xmpp.example.com : le proxy HTTP pour le transferts de fichiers ; les certificats pour votre instance (par exemple prosody.example.com). nous aurons besoin d’ouvrir certains ports sur le firewall (pf).

I’m quite sure no one would complain if we’d implement any of this in XMPP. Notes exist already (my XEP 😅).

It would also be nice if, like on mastodon, we could leave notes about users to remember the context for them. It would be even nicer if the notes could include some kind of structured data — hashtags would be fine — and the group system would let you set a hashtag filter that would soft-stop you from adding people without the hashtag to that group. Bonus points for integrating the chat folder system with hashtags as well. This would go a long way toward helping the system scale for organizations.

So, my fellow XMPP users, I know you're out there. Are there any decent XMPP group chats anyone can recommend? Maybe something revolving around gaming (tabletop or video), DIY, or just about anything really.

Und wer #monocles oder anderen Anbietern nicht vertraut kann #XMPP selbst.hosten und hat bei #OMEMO ohnehim doe Kontrolle über die Schlüssel.

Alles andere ist naiver Glauben dass @Mer__edith für Nutzer*innen Knast riskieren würde…

@phreaknerd @melsdung @nocci bis darauf dass #Signal auch unter #CloudAct fällt und genauso zentralisiert ist wie #Telegram und genauso #TrustMeBro in Sachen Nicht-Kooperation agiert...

  • Geb' dir lieber #XMPP+#OMEMO, denn das geht über @torproject / #Tor und selbst wenn bspw. @monocles na Anfrage bekämen könnten die faktisch nichts brauchbares abgeben selbst wenn all deren Hardware beschlagnahmt würde.

You should know:

If you write a private post to someone else on #Mastodon, and you mention another user by their @, that user is added to the conversation and can see that post too!

For example, if you report someone harassing you to an administrator via private mention message, and you tag their account, they can see that!

Never treat private posts on Mastodon like a messenger!
Use actual chat software like #Matrix, #XMPP or #Signal for talking one-on-one, please.

@stefan @bjoern similar situation here. Having the family group chat on #XMPP really helped at least my immediate family become regular 😉

It was somewhat easier because my parents were already not on WhatsApp (the dominant messaging platform here) either. A few of the more extended members were though; they're happy that there's now a comparably user-friendly way to contact us 😎

I'm yet to figure out a strategy for strangers and acquaintances... :xmpp:

Hablando del tema. ¿Alguien sabe cómo crear una automatización en un grupo público de XMPP donde se publique automáticamente todo lo que sale en @curiosabiologia ? Como lo que tengo en Telegram (t.me/MuyVary) pero en #XMPP.
Tengo creado el canal pero ahí me he quedado. El de Telegram lo tengo automatizado con Make.com pero no tiene módulo para XMPP
