RuudI am testing out some tech I want to learn more about :-) I have used <a href="https://ruud.social/tags/Terraform" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Terraform</a> to create some VMs in my <a href="https://ruud.social/tags/Proxmox" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Proxmox</a> server, then with <a href="https://ruud.social/tags/kubespray" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#kubespray</a> installed a kubernetes cluster on them. Next I'll install <a href="https://ruud.social/tags/rook" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#rook</a> / <a href="https://ruud.social/tags/ceph" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ceph</a> so I have some storage, and last but not least I will install <a href="https://ruud.social/tags/CloudNativePG" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#CloudNativePG</a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/@CloudNativePG" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@CloudNativePG@mastodon.social</a> on it. Continuing the shit from day 418, notice how you can set the 'alert_notifications' property in each 'azurerm_security_center_contact' <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Terraform" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Terraform</a> resource even though all of them represent the same underlying <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Azure" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Azure</a> subscription security contact? When setting them to different values for the same subscription, the security contacts would constantly overwrite each other on each Terraform apply.

The issue with the shit from day 417 is, when having multiple <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Terraform" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Terraform</a> resources that represent the same underlying <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Azure" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Azure</a> resource, they run into race conditions. When deleting all security contacts for the same subscription at the same time, the deletion of all but one 'azurerm_security_center_contact' resources would fail.

The new <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Azure" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Azure</a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Terraform" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Terraform</a> 'azurerm_security_center_contact' resource allows you to specify a name for the contact, but as we covered on day 68, there can only be one security contact resource in Azure and its name is always 'default'. The Terraform provider "solves" this issue by simply appending the email address of all resources to the same default security contact.

Which is yet another different name for a product that is already called differently everywhere you look it up, for example 'Microsoft.Security/securityContacts' in the API, 'security contacts' in the CLI or "Microsoft Defender for Cloud email notifications" in the Azure Portal.
