I just found out about Katarina Taikon and I am appalled I can't find any of her writing in English or Hungarian. She sounds like the kind of author who should be widely read.
Part II - She feared her #painting would bring about her demise, but instead her talent caught the attention of SS Dr Josef Mengele. Dina was asked by Mengele to create #portraits of #Romani prisoners, thinking that her #paintings would better portray skin color differences than a photo could. She agreed under the condition that her mother remain in the camp with her. Her bravery would save both the women's lives.
