Taffer 🇨🇦 :godot:<p>How well does <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@joplinapp" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>joplinapp</span></a></span> 's Joplin Cloud sync work on mobile devices (iOS in my case)?</p><p>It wasn't great when syncing against OneDrive when I used it last, but I've been thinking about it again, since my <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mas.to/@obsidian" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>obsidian</span></a></span> data gets sync'd to a US cloud, and I've been looking into moving everything out of US control for some reason. Not sure where Obsidian-the-company is based (U of Waterloo alumni though!).</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/joplin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>joplin</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/joplincloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>joplincloud</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/joplinapp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>joplinapp</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/obsidianmd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>obsidianmd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>obsidian</span></a></p>
unattributed<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://infosec.exchange/@avoidthehack" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>avoidthehack</span></a></span> On Android I'd highly recommend people install F-Droid and replace the standard Google Apps with Fossify Apps. The sooner you get away from Apps thta are hooked to the advertising API's, the better.<br><br><a href="https://gotosocial.social/tags/f" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>F</span></a>-Droid: <a href="https://f-droid.org/en/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://f-droid.org/en/</a><br><a href="https://gotosocial.social/tags/fossify" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fossify</span></a> on F-Droid: <a href="https://search.f-droid.org/?q=fossify&amp;lang=en" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://search.f-droid.org/?q=fossify&amp;lang=en</a><br>Fossify Github: <a href="https://github.com/FossifyOrg" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://github.com/FossifyOrg</a><br><br>Also, change browsers. My choice is <a href="https://gotosocial.social/tags/waterfox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Waterfox</span></a>: <a href="https://www.waterfox.net/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.waterfox.net/</a><br><br>And there are other things that I use, like <a href="https://gotosocial.social/tags/joplinapp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>joplinapp</span></a> for taking notes: <a href="https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.cozic.joplin/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.cozic.joplin/</a> - with my own share for storing / syncing notes.<br><br>Sure replacing <a href="https://gotosocial.social/tags/android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Android</span></a> with a different build is definitely better. But if you either (a) don't have the skill / knowledge to flash your phone/table, (b) have a phone/tablet that isn't supported, or (c) just don't have the time or want to fuss with it, then swapping out as many apps as possible, and changing as many Android settings as possible is the best way to go. Minimizing trackers is the next best thing to getting rid of Android altogether.<br><br>Oh - somthing else to consider.... Try using a tool like TrackerControl (<a href="https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.kollnig.missioncontrol.fdroid/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.kollnig.missioncontrol.fdroid/</a>) to block as many trackers as possible. This is a pretty cool app - uses a VPN to inspect the network traffic and log all the calls to known trackers.</p>

It's certainly intriguing, but I'm not sure yet what I think about it 🤔</p><p>(Feel free to engage with this post with advice etc, I guess it is me asking)</p>
