olli.dev ✅<p>Es wird draußen endlich wieder wärmer und deswegen möchte ich dir unbedingt folgende Automation mit Home Assistant zeigen:</p><p>Hitzeschutz danke Home Assistant!</p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/UFSE4Fqt9F4" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/UFSE4Fqt9F4</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/automation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>automation</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/hitze" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hitze</span></a></p>
bazcurtis<p>Which door and window sensors do people use with Home Assistant? I do like Aqara products. Any thoughts?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a></p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@homeassistant" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>homeassistant@fosstodon.org</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://lemmy.world/c/homeassistant" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>homeassistant@lemmy.world</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/homeassistant" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>homeassistant@a.gup.pe</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://chirp.social/@homeassistant" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>homeassistant@chirp.social</span></a></span></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>This is the little 2channel <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/zigbee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>zigbee</span></a> monitor I'm using. Looks like lots of people using something similar. It has two current sensor clamps, so it's nicely non invasive. </p><p>Not wild about it using 120V power as a battery or an adapter would prob be safer, but I've put the thing in a utility box to keep the 120V supply lines safely covered.</p><p>Can sense up to 80A of current</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>Oh hey, I found a community-edited ZHA Quirk for the 2--chan power monitor I'm using seems to be working. </p><p>I should at least be able to monitor current and power effectively while the official Quirk code is finalized. Nice!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>Learning more than I'd hoped was necessary about the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/zigbee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>zigbee</span></a> device handling.</p><p>There are python add-ons called "Quirks" that let devices add sensor entities after the fact for ZHA and Z2m. </p><p>I've got a 2-channel power sensor I'm trying to add and it seems to be on the bleeding edge of supported devices. </p><p>I see dev work going on, so might be the easiest path forward is to wait a few weeks.</p><p>But hey, I learned about Quirks today, so that's a new corner of HA for me.</p>
Smart Home Junkie<p>I can confirm that <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a> OS 15.1 runs fine on a HP T620 Thin Client. Dennis Hwang<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://chaos.social/@rixx" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>rixx</span></a></span> I use Grocy, which you can get running on top of <a href="https://hwang.me.uk/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a>, but maybe that’s not really what you want 😂</p><p>It does support assigning tasks to different people and there are a couple of custom components that make setting it up on a dashboard relatively straightforward. I find it kind of glitchy at times though, particularly when it comes to adding data.</p>
rixx<p>Hmm, actually, there is a <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/ticktick" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ticktick</span></a> integration for <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homeassistant</span></a>, should probably try that. It’s fairly new, but might be good enough (and would allow me to do "repeat after completion", which is so so good for household chores): <a href="https://github.com/Hantick/ticktick-home-assistant" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/Hantick/ticktick-ho</span><span class="invisible">me-assistant</span></a></p>
rixx<p>How do y’all handle recurring tasks re: home maintenance? I’m usually on top of weekly-ish chores, but things that occur only every couple of months or yearly are kinda rough – like changing filters, cleaning appliances like freezer/dishwasher/washing machine, washing curtains, cleaning baseboards, etc.</p><p>I’m already in the <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homeassistant</span></a> ecosystem, but none of the solutions for recurring tasks there sparked joy (and neither did running a full extra CRM as some people apparently do xD)</p>
Smart Home Junkie<p>There are exciting new features in Home Assistant April 2025.4!</p><p>👉 <a href="https://youtu.be/tuooIcPXkTI" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/tuooIcPXkTI</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homeassistant</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/whatsnew" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>whatsnew</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/april2025" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>april2025</span></a><br><a href="https://youtu.be/tuooIcPXkTI" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/tuooIcPXkTI</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>

It stopped the YouTube player and we had to restart it manually. Fine I guess since you have to go the door anyway in this case.</p>

bazcurtis<p>I have added some aliases to some scripts I want to run via HA Voice PE.</p><p>This works if I type - Run Office Fan 1. If I say it, it repeats words not in my command. I tried to swap Whisper from tiny-int8 to tiny, it never changes. The save is greyed out, if I press it, it asks for the Whisper restart.</p><p>Will changing help anyway? Is it time to subscribe to HA Cloud and would that help?
