10 years ago today the first season of Daredevil premiered. Still one of the best live action Marvel productions, and still one of the most successfully executed comic-to-screen adaptations we got, managing to keep a perfect balance between having a more serious tone, while still not feeling ashamed to stay true to its source material.

Just finished reading 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Vol. 1: Return to New York' by Jason Aaron, whose Thor/Mighty Thor runs and Star Wars comics I truly loved, and I seriously enjoyed this book. The story is a bit more grownup, grittier, and more violent than the OG series, but still remains true to the TMNT spirit.

A big thank you to IDW Publishing for offering me an Advance Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review. The book is coming out on June 24, 2025.

maybe there's some comic book artists who'd wanna talk about a collaboration 👀

the script for book one of two is finished! it's a middle grade coming-of-age portal fantasy and plays in a bit of a horror space

money is tight, but we could come to an agreement together, get some pages drawn, and maybe attempt a fundraiser for the rest. i'm pretty open to options

boosts appreciated to help me find artists!

It's fun how I jump from stuff to another. I was complaining about the non-classy Frank Miller's Selina in Year One, so I went to cherrypick old Nocturna's character arc. Enter Batman (v. I) #363, aaaand... She's meant to be "classy" all right, but the kitschy, corny "poetry" and "philosophy" sported by the character is simply...

"The nights are wondrous, Mr. Wayne... They are the cloak which adorns mystery with its elegance".

Judge yourself.

I got my hands on an advance copy of 'The Age of Video Games: A Graphic History of Gaming from Pong to VR and Beyond' (big thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing), written by journalist Jean Zeid and illustrated by Émilie Rouge, a graphic novel that sets out to cover the long history of video games as a medium. As someone who has been fascinated by games since the age of 5, I found the concept extremely interesting, and having read the entire thing I can say that the book certainly did not disappoint.

The book is expected to be published on July 22, 2025.

There's only one thing about Year One I disliked and still don't love: Selina. I've always seen her as a vamp, a classic, and classy, femme fatale, and... That's just not there. But in truth that's just me, and to be fair the character as it is works in the narrative Miller presented. He did a much better work, I believe, with Daredevil's Elektra, so I'll be happy with that.

Last night I read once again the classic Batman: Year One (it's been a lot of years since the last time, yeah). I was ready for a bit of a let down (nostalgia hasn't that much grip on me), but... I loved it more than the first time. I believe I'm more ready now to appreciate Mazucchelli's minimalistic but precise art, and the noir, realistic tones in Miller's script. I'll be bold and say that, for me, this is the best work he's ever done.
