PJ WoodsCliff swallow nests by the well-known Chaco 1054 Supernova rock art panel. Chinese records indicate July 4 1054 as when this "guest star" appeared, when the moon was nearly at first quarter. This supernova created the Crab Nebula. Halley's Comet appeared in 1066. Wisdom in SpaceDarwin's expression, "the struggle for existence," is sometimes erroneously interpreted as the struggle between different species. In reality, the struggle Darwin was thinking of and which drives evolution forward is the competition between near relations. What causes a species to disappear or become transformed into a different species is the profitable "invention" that falls by chance to one or a few of its members in the everlasting gamble of hereditary change.
