Community ChangeFinance should be a tool that serves the people, not the other way around. A community-owned economy is not structured too differently from a capitalist economy, in terms of functions, however the key difference lies at the heart of it. Core enabling functions work to enable the needs of the central driving force. In capitalism, finance has become its own entity, with its own wants and needs. People merely serve as a function to enable the needs of finance. In the community-owned economy, it is the wants and needs of the people that are addressed, with finance serving as a tool to enable them. Importantly it means that even if we have no finance, we have a direction, and other tools to enable our solutions.
