Just wanted to share some thoughts on #RFC9715 - an #RFC that defines standards on reducing the #DNS issue of IP fragmentation over #UDP. It's not a long read, but a good one for everyone who understands the issues of large UDP responses on the #Internet. A great leap forward to (hopefully) reduce the reflection/amplification #DDoS potential of DNS.

Just today I learned that #Google will share their public DNS resolvers to limit to ~1400 bytes (smaller adjustments expected while figuring out the sweet spot in production). From now on, DNS responses which exceed this limit will have the truncated flag set instructing the client to resolve back to #TCP.

(5/5) Selbst wenn sie sich nicht daran halten, könnten solche Erklärungen eine wichtige #didaktische Funktion erfüllen, weil sie die Studierenden auf das Urheberrecht hinweisen.

Oder lassen sich alle Hochschullehrer:innen – wie üblich in der #Internet-Ausbeutungswirtschaft – darauf ein: Ach, mein kleiner Beitrag für das KI-Training ist es ja nicht wert, dass ich mich darum kümmere.

1.) In my ongoing battle against AI-crawlers, I have entered a new stage. The web-server is reasonably secure, but I've noticed something else: people are sharing the photos of my works on a plethora of platforms, which is good. But I cannot secure those platforms, since they are not mine.
Enter disturbing the AI's themselves by adding noise, using adversarial defenses and even AI-breaking patterns. All invisible to the human eye, but very visible for AI.

If you want free speech on the internet you must own as much as possible your publishing supply chain.

But owning it all it's not possible, unless you own satellites, landlines and all the internet infrastructure. You'll have to trust some suppliers, but get ready to move away in no time: own your data, own your website, use free software in your workflows.

This also tells a lot which services we must vigilate upon. Violating the net neutrality is an attack to free speech.
