@simon_brooke that assumes several things that are proven wrong:

  1. #TechBros didn't knew their #Algorithms (they do!)

  2. #GAFAMs were unable to change what gets #boosted by their own Algorithms. (OFC they can!)

  3. The same companies didn't knew the directly-linked damage they can if not cause, at least amplify (see #RohingyaGenocide in #Burma)

  4. #TechBro|s in #SiliconValley weren't #facist to begin with (I mean, #PeterThiel is more of a #norm than #exception!)

  5. That they never before sided with a #POTUS (In fact, they platformed #Trump and his #cult|ist #followers even after their failed #Coup and #HighTreason!)

  6. Said #CEO|s and #CTO|s are powerless to stop any of this (in fact, they could force Trump to resign if they wanted to!)

  7. That Trump exerts control over them (He could as.per #CloudAct but let's be honest, they control him more than he can control them!)

  8. That #TechCompanies from the #USA didn't endorse and platform #facists and #authoritatians (espechally in the #EU) until then.

  9. That the #US became hostile over night.

I just hope to find any that ain't #NetLock'd / #SimLock'd to #Verizon and that these support more than #US-#LTE bands...

  • Not shure if it needs a valid #SIM or just an #ICCID + #Ki on a #SIM to get going (cuz in #Germany it's hard [imported #SIM] to illegal [domestic SIMs] to get an anonymous SIM since 07/2017.

I just wish @eff wouldn't expect everyone to use #centralized, #SingleVendor & #SingleProvider services like @signalapp in the age of #CloudAct, cuz neither I nor anyone I'd trust would submit #PII to them like a #PhoneNumer as a matter of principle!

Except THIS is not how any of this works!....

#Trump literally lashing out against friends and neighbours will only backfire hard, and I expect @EUCommission and @europarl_en to enact #PrizeFreezes for #US #products & #services whilst forcing #Retaliatory #Tariffs on all US #products and espechally #services, demanding 100%+ in all #fees, and #revenue of #GAFAMs' services and products to the point that they'll effectively cancel half their revenue that flows back.

  • Plus forcing all products and services to be processed and sold via a #EU-based #corporation and adding a 30% "#AlienTax" as the #USA already does for i.e. #App #developers that ain't from the US even if they never sold a single license to a US customer.

Not to mention cancelling any #DataProtection agreements that only stalled the foreseeable court decision that #CloudAct is incompatible with #GDPR, thus banning #Office365 / #Microsoft365, #iCloud et. al. from the EU!

Given #Trump can't be assed to even fake any #loyality or #allied status even for the cameras, this is a #ForeseeableConsequence.

Unless we want to end up #downgraded into the state of a US-occupied overseas possession without statehood, like #Guam, #PuertoRico or #AVI...

Ich widerspreche vehement dieser naiven Einschätzung durch @morl99 gerade weil #Microsoft sich verweigert #Office365 & #Microsoft365 so umzustrukturieren dass es #SelfHosting bzw. fully-managed Optionen gibt die nachweislich eine Compliance mit #CloudAct verunmöglichen.

Ich folge nur nicht der generellen Einschätzung, dass alle US-Dienste nun nicht mehr nutzbar sind. Da gibt es vermutlich ja auch noch einen Unterschied ob das Kind 6 oder 14 ist, oder?

@morl99 @Pando nein, #Microsoft's Tochter in #Irland kann und darf dies nicht ohne dass der #Mutterkonzern dafür in #Regress genommen wird.

Ernsthaft, finde einen Fall wo ein Konzern soch erfolgreich gegen #CloudAct wehren konnte...

  • Denn so einen Fall gibt es nicht!

#NotLegalAdvice aber allein das Risiko entsprechender #Massenüberwachung und #Datendiebstahl und nicht-existierender #Rechtsstaatlichkeit (weder müssen Betroffene benachrichtigt werden noch gibt es Rechtsmittel um.die Rechtmäßigkeit anzufechten) machen #Microsoft365 / #Office365 genauso untauglich wie #AlibabaCloud & #WPSoffice [aus der "V.R." China]!

  • Und ich kenne keine*n Jurist*in die für Microsoft die Hand ins Feuer legen! Hab' auch nur value-removing #Reseller gesehen die was anderes behaupten!
